A ring of 132 LED buttons wraps around a free-standing cylinder. One player. Speeds climb until the light outruns the hand.
Overview
Speed of Light is a single- and multi-player action redemption game from LAI Games built around a cylindrical tower of 132 individually lit LED buttons. Players race to slap each button as a light pattern rotates faster and faster around the tower, earning tickets based on how long they keep pace before missing. The free-standing format and 360-degree play surface make the unit visible and accessible from any direction on the floor.
Key Features
132-Button LED Tower
The playing surface is a full-height cylinder lined with 132 large illuminated buttons arranged in vertical columns. Every button lights independently, letting the game generate rotating patterns, chase sequences, and multi-point target windows that are readable from anywhere in the room.
Single- and Multi-Player Modes
The cabinet supports both solo play and competitive multi-player sessions, allowing two or more players to race against each other around the tower simultaneously. Multi-player rounds fill the unit at once and keep throughput high during peak traffic periods.
Ticket Dispensing Redemption
The game includes an integrated ticket dispenser. Ticket payouts scale with performance, so players who sustain longer streaks at higher speeds earn more — creating a natural incentive to replay and improve.
Universal Payment Compatibility
Speed of Light ships pre-drilled for Embed and fitted with a Universal Connector, making it compatible with coin mechanisms, dollar bill acceptors, and card-based cashless systems out of the box.
Escalating Speed Mechanic
The light sequence accelerates continuously during each round. Early rounds are accessible to casual players; later stages require rapid full-arm movement around the cylinder, pushing the physical limits of reaction time and generating the visible full-body effort that draws spectators.
How It Plays
The player stands at the tower and slaps each lit button the instant it illuminates, chasing the light as it rotates around the cylinder at increasing speed. Missing a button ends the round and triggers a ticket payout based on the level reached. From the surrounding floor, bystanders see a full-body physical effort — arms sweeping around the tower, pace visibly accelerating — which is why the unit tends to draw a cluster of onlookers before a round ends.

Why Operators Love It
Cashless-Ready Out of the Box
The pre-drilled Embed mounting and Universal Connector mean the unit drops into a card-system environment without cutting or retrofitting the cabinet. Coin and DBA slots are also supported, covering every payment configuration an operator typically runs.
Low Power Draw for a Full-Size Unit
At 290W, Speed of Light draws less power than many comparably sized redemption towers, which keeps utility costs manageable across multi-unit locations or tight electrical circuits.
Compact Shipping Profile Relative to Assembled Size
The unit ships at 29" deep — significantly narrower than its 65" assembled footprint — because the tower components pack flat for freight. That difference simplifies delivery through standard doorways and reduces staging space requirements on delivery day.
Social Replay Loop Built Into the Format
The unit has generated a documented pattern of player-posted score videos online, with players sharing results and issuing challenges to others. The high-score structure gives players a personal benchmark to beat on each subsequent visit.
Ideal Placement
Speed of Light performs well in family entertainment centers, trampoline parks, bowling centers, and large arcade venues where open floor space allows the 360-degree play surface to be approached from multiple directions. The unit's height and active LED display make it readable across large rooms.
