A basketball court-themed ramp. Five real balls in play. Up to ten linked cabinets across the floor.

Overview

The ICE NBA Hoops Matrix is a large-format commercial arcade basketball game built on a new cabinet platform with updated technology, LED lighting, and a fresh sound package. It carries full NBA team licensing across all 30 current franchises and scales from a single standalone unit to a linked bank of up to ten cabinets for head-to-head multiplayer competitions. Ticket dispenser and marquee options are available to configure the unit for redemption or high-visibility floor setups.

Key Features

Basketball Court-Themed Ramp with 8.5-Inch Real Balls

The playing surface uses a basketball court-themed ramp design, and each unit ships with five 8.5-inch regulation-feel basketballs. The tactile combination of a themed lane and a ball that matches the feel of real court play separates this cabinet visually and physically from generic arcade hoops units.

Up to Ten-Unit Linked Play

Up to ten NBA Hoops Matrix units can be linked simultaneously for multiplayer competitions. Note that the new-style cabinets are not backward-compatible with old-style NBA Hoops units — linked banks must use the current Matrix platform throughout.

Adjustable Rim Height

The rim adjusts to three heights: 9'6", 9'4.5", and 9'2.5". Operators can set the height to match ceiling clearance at the install location or tune difficulty for a specific venue demographic.

Full NBA Team Customization

The cabinet is available in any of the 30 current NBA team liveries: Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, LA Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trailblazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, and Washington Wizards.

Marquee Options for Linked Banks

Two marquee configurations are available. The NBA Hoops Mega Marquee is recommended for banks of three or more linked units and brings total cabinet height to 158 inches. The Game Time Marquee is an alternative for venues with tighter ceiling clearance, bringing total height to 136 inches. Marquee power draws 110V at 6 amps or 220V at 3 amps and ships separately (45 in x 45 in x 26 in, 152 lbs).

Redemption and Free-Game Options

Available options include a coin mechanism, ticket dispenser, and a "play to win free game" feature. The ticket dispenser converts the unit to a redemption play format, and the free-game feature creates an incentive loop within a single-player or competitive session.

How It Plays

The player shoots 8.5-inch basketballs at the rim from the court-themed ramp surface within a 40-second timed session. Five balls are in play per game, and the ramp returns them for continuous shooting without stoppages. From across the venue, the full-height cabinet — rising to 118 inches assembled, or up to 158 inches with the Mega Marquee — is visible well beyond the machine's immediate footprint, and a linked bank of multiple units reads as a coordinated competitive event rather than a single standalone game.

Why Operators Love It

Short Cycle, Continuous Ball Return

Each game runs exactly 40 seconds with five balls cycling through the ramp return — there is no dead time between shots and no manual ball collection between plays. The fixed 40-second session length means the machine turns over to the next player on a predictable, rapid schedule.

Three-Position Rim Height Adjustment

The rim adjusts to 9'6", 9'4.5", or 9'2.5" without additional hardware, letting operators fit the cabinet into venues with varying ceiling clearances or dial in difficulty for specific audiences at a given location.

Scalable Footprint from One to Ten Units

A single NBA Hoops Matrix operates standalone; operators can expand a bank to ten linked units using the same platform. Each individual cabinet is 35.50 inches deep and 120 inches wide, so a two-unit side-by-side bank fits within a standard double-wide floor slot used by most FEC and bowling center arcade layouts.

Configurable Payout and Incentive Options

The ticket dispenser and "play to win free game" feature are both factory options — operators can order the unit in pure play, ticket redemption, or free-game incentive configurations to match the payout policies of each route stop or venue.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a game on the NBA Hoops Matrix?

Each game session runs 40 seconds. Five balls are in play, returned via the ramp so there is no interruption between shots during the timed session.

How many NBA Hoops Matrix units can be linked together?

Up to ten units can be linked at one time. The new Matrix platform is not compatible with older-style NBA Hoops cabinets, so all units in a linked bank must be the current Matrix generation.

What marquee options are available for the NBA Hoops Matrix?

Two options are available: the NBA Hoops Mega Marquee (recommended for three or more linked units, brings total height to 158 inches) and the Game Time Marquee (fits venues with lower ceilings, total height 136 inches). Two units are required per marquee. The marquee ships separately and draws 110V at 6 amps or 220V at 3 amps.

Can the NBA Hoops Matrix be ordered with a ticket dispenser?

Yes. A ticket dispenser is available as a factory option. Additional configurable options include a coin mechanism and a "play to win free game" feature.

Ideal Placement

The NBA Hoops Matrix fits naturally in family entertainment centers, bowling center arcades, trampoline parks, and sports bar game rooms where ceiling heights accommodate the 118-inch assembled cabinet (or up to 158 inches with the Mega Marquee). Its 35.50-inch depth fits standard arcade floor slots, and the NBA team customization option makes it a direct match for sports-themed venues, stadium entertainment areas, and restaurant sports bars seeking licensed team branding on the floor.
