Synchronized multicolor LEDs run the full length of the alley. Every roll lights the lane.

Overview

The ICE Iceball FX is ICE's redesigned alley roller, built on over 50 improvements from the original ICE Ball. The cabinet is engineered for commercial deployment — single-player, ticket-redemption, and configurable for linked multi-unit installations with an optional shared marquee. Every structural and electronic component has been updated from the ground up, from the target cover to the solenoid to the playfield mounting hardware.

Key Features

Synchronized Multicolor LED Alley Lighting

LED lighting strips run the length of the alley and change color in sync across the cabinet. When multiple units are placed side by side, the lighting effects coordinate across all linked machines simultaneously, producing a visible synchronized display across the entire bank.

Half-Inch Acrylic Target Cover

The original metal cage target guards are replaced by a 1/2-inch thick acrylic cover. The acrylic is clear, giving players and bystanders an unobstructed view of the LED-lit target area, while providing the structural protection the metal cages previously handled.

Hinged Playfield with Direct Board and Power Supply Access

The playfield is bolted for durability during play but hinges open for service access. The power supply and main board are accessible directly from the front without disassembling the cabinet. HDPE slides on the main board reduce friction during removal and reinsertion.

Redesigned Solenoid with Horizontal Guide Pin

A new-style solenoid with a horizontal guide pin replaces the previous design. The guide pin keeps the solenoid on axis through repeated cycles, reducing mechanical wear over the life of the unit. ICE engineered this specifically to extend service intervals on a high-cycle component.

Noise Reduction and Ball Wear Upgrades

Padding added to the back panel and target area reduces operational noise compared to the original ICE Ball. Ball rail padding prevents paint chipping on the rails. A vacuum-formed ball diverter and redesigned ball-return hardware reduce ball-on-cabinet wear over extended play cycles.

Linked Multi-Unit Marquee Support

Up to nine Iceball FX units can be linked to a single Mega Marquee. The marquee is recommended when two or more units are placed together. A dedicated access panel on each cabinet provides direct entry to the marquee connection point. The marquee adds 34 inches to the cabinet height, bringing the total to 118 inches assembled.

How It Plays

The player rolls balls down a narrow alley, aiming for the highest-value targets at the far end. Each ball that reaches a scored target earns points, and the final point total determines the ticket payout — higher scores yield more tickets. From the side, the LED lighting along the full alley length changes color with each play cycle, making the lane visible from across the room during active gameplay.

Why Operators Love It

Front-Access Service Points

The power supply and main board are reachable directly from the front of the cabinet. The coin door and ticket door each use a metal drawer slide system, so both pull out for service without tools. Combined with the hinged playfield, the most common service tasks complete from one side of the machine.

30-Inch Cabinet Depth Fits Standard Lane Slots

At 30 inches deep, the Iceball FX fits the same floor slot as most alley roller predecessors. Operators replacing original ICE Ball units or rotating in additional lanes work within an existing footprint — no reconfiguration of the surrounding floor plan required.

Scalable Linked Installation — Up to Nine Units

A single Mega Marquee supports up to nine linked Iceball FX units. Operators can start with two units and expand the bank without replacing the marquee. The marquee ships separately (68 x 18 x 48 in, 101 lbs) and connects via the dedicated access panel on each cabinet.

Cabinet Customization Available

ICE offers custom graphics on the end cap units, score headers, and marquee for operators who want a branded or venue-specific installation. The playfield itself can also be custom designed. End cap units are the recommended starting point for venue branding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many ICEBall FX units can be linked to one marquee?

Up to nine ICEBall FX units can be linked to a single Mega Marquee. ICE recommends using the marquee whenever two or more units are placed together. The marquee connects via the dedicated access panel built into each cabinet.

Are original ICE Ball units compatible with the ICEBall FX?

No — the old-style ICE Ball and the new ICEBall FX use different electronics and are not compatible for linking. Operators building a linked bank should use ICEBall FX units exclusively.

How much height does the Mega Marquee add to the ICEBall FX?

The Mega Marquee adds 34 inches to the base cabinet height of 84 inches, bringing the total assembled height to 118 inches. Operators should verify ceiling clearance before ordering the marquee for their location.

Can the ICEBall FX be customized with venue branding?

Yes. ICE offers custom graphics on the end cap units, individual score headers, and the marquee. The playfield can also be custom designed. ICE recommends starting the branding on the end cap units for maximum visual impact on a banked installation.

Ideal Placement

The ICEBall FX fits naturally in family entertainment centers, bowling center arcades, and trampoline parks where alley-style games are already part of the floor plan. Its 30-inch depth matches standard lane slot dimensions common in these venues. The 10-foot assembled length makes it well suited for dedicated redemption rows in larger FEC installations, and the scalable linked configuration supports venues that want to run a full bank of two to nine lanes under a single marquee.
