A large red LED counter climbs toward 5.000. One button stops it.
Overview
Freeze 5 is an instant prize merchandiser from Coastal Amusements built around a single skill challenge: stop a counting timer at exactly 5.000 to claim one of five hanging prizes. The cabinet features five dedicated prize spindles, five selection buttons, a large red numerical LED counter, and an LED matrix billboard — all wrapped in an ice-themed black, blue, and white cabinet with RGB LED trim lighting.
Key Features
Large Red Numerical LED Counter
The oversized LED display counts upward in real time during each play, showing the running time to players and bystanders standing away from the machine. The counter is the central visual focus of every game cycle — the moment it climbs through 4.900 and approaches 5.000, the display draws attention from across the floor.
Five Prize Spindles with Dedicated Selection Buttons
Five coil spindles each hold an individual prize, numbered and visible through the prize bay window. A dedicated button corresponds to each spindle, so the player commits to a specific prize before the timer starts. The spindles accommodate plush, small boxed electronics, and other small- to medium-sized merchandise.
LED Matrix Billboard
The cabinet includes a programmable LED matrix billboard that displays custom messages and animations. Operators can configure the billboard to show promotional content or venue-specific text during attract mode, using the panel as an on-machine advertising surface.
RGB LED Trim Lighting
RGB LED strips run along the cabinet trim, cycling through color patterns during attract mode. Combined with the ice-themed black, blue, and white artwork, the lighting makes the cabinet visible from across a busy floor without additional signage.
Secure Locking Prize Bay
The prize bay closes with a keyed locking door, keeping merchandise secure between restocking visits. The enclosed bay is sized for plush and small boxed electronics — the same prize categories common on 31-inch crane machines.
Multi-Payment Ready
Freeze 5 ships compatible with coin, dollar bill acceptor (DBA), and card swipe inputs, so operators can configure the payment setup that matches their location without retrofitting the cabinet.
How It Plays
The player selects one of five prizes by pressing its corresponding button, then watches the large red LED counter begin counting upward from zero. To win, the player must press the STOP button at the precise moment the counter reaches 5.000 — being off by even a fraction of a second results in a loss. From the floor, bystanders see the giant counter climbing in real time and watch the single decisive button press, making the win-or-lose moment visible and readable at a distance.

Why Operators Love It
Compact Footprint for Route and Floor Placement
At 32 inches wide and 34 inches deep, the Freeze 5 footprint is comparable to a standard 31-inch crane machine. It fits existing floor slots and route locations sized for single-player prize equipment without requiring layout changes.
Fast Cycle Time with No Consumables
Each play resolves the moment the player presses STOP — there is no ball return, no prize delivery mechanism beyond the coil spindle, and no ticket roll to restock. The only regular operator task is restocking prizes in the five spindles.
Flexible Payment Configuration
The cabinet accepts coin, DBA, and card swipe inputs out of the box. Operators can match the payment setup to the location — coin for traditional routes, card swipe for cashless FEC environments — without purchasing additional hardware adapters.
Programmable Billboard Reduces Signage Overhead
The onboard LED matrix billboard is operator-configurable for custom messages and animations, eliminating the need for external printed signage to communicate promotions or instructions at the machine.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a player win on the Freeze 5?
After crediting the game and pressing the button for their chosen prize, the player watches the large LED counter count upward and must press the STOP button at exactly 5.000 seconds. Any deviation — even a fraction of a second — results in a loss and the player must try again.
What types of prizes work in the Freeze 5?
The five coil spindles are designed for small and medium prizes, including plush and small boxed electronics. Each spindle holds one prize at a time, so the cabinet displays up to five distinct prize options simultaneously.
What is the assembled footprint of the Freeze 5?
The Freeze 5 measures 32 inches wide, 34 inches deep, and 95 inches tall assembled. Coastal Amusements describes this footprint as comparable to a standard 31-inch crane machine, making it a direct fit for floor slots already occupied by single-unit prize equipment.
What payment options does the Freeze 5 support?
The Freeze 5 is coin, DBA (dollar bill acceptor), and card swipe ready as configured from the factory. Operators can deploy it on coin routes or in cashless card-system environments without cabinet modification.
Ideal Placement
The Freeze 5 is sized for route and street operation locations — laundromats, convenience stores, and pizzerias where a 32-inch-wide footprint fits alongside standard vending and crane equipment. It also works in family entertainment centers, bowling center arcades, and trampoline parks where instant-prize merchandisers sit alongside redemption games. The 95-inch cabinet height requires standard commercial ceiling clearance.
