A licensed Need for Speed arcade racing cabinet built for commercial venues, featuring police chase gameplay, five named licensed supercars, a micro LED matrix header, and multi-cabinet linking for up to four players.
Overview
NFS Heat Takedown by Adrenaline Amusements brings the Need for Speed franchise back to arcades for the first time since Need for Speed Carbon in 2008. The experience is heavily modified from the console version, making it exclusive to the arcade environment with gameplay built around night street racing, police pursuits, and takedown mechanics. The cabinet is a standout floor piece, featuring a dark design aesthetic with a micro LED matrix panel in place of a traditional marquee, functioning as a fully active second display with LED lighting carried throughout the cabinet exterior.
The cabinet includes a 42-inch screen, 5.1 surround sound, interactive seat vibration, a player-facing camera for avatar capture, force feedback steering, and support for linking up to four units for head-to-head multiplayer racing. A built-in camera captures player photos for use as in-game avatars, with photos automatically deleted after each game.
Key Features
Licensed Need for Speed Franchise — Arcade-Exclusive Build
The game carries the internationally recognized Need for Speed license and is purpose-built for the arcade environment rather than being a direct port. The franchise has been absent from arcades since 2008, and this cabinet marks its return with content designed specifically for the coin-op environment.
Five Licensed Supercars with Paint Selection
Players choose from five officially licensed supercars: the Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvette GS, Ford GT, Lamborghini Aventador S, and Nissan GT-R. Each vehicle is selectable with a choice of paint finish, giving players a degree of personalization before each race.
Five Named Race Courses with Police Chase and Takedown Mechanics
Racing takes place across five named courses: Ocean Drive, Cross Mountain, Winx, Axiom, and Tumbler. Each course features jumps and collision-heavy sequences set at night. Players race against opponents and contend with police pursuit once they pass through police checkpoints — the more checkpoints passed, the higher the heat level. The takedown mechanic allows players to actively force opponents out of the race via epic collisions, while players must also avoid being taken down themselves.
Micro LED Matrix Header
In place of a traditional backlit marquee, the cabinet uses a high-quality micro LED panel as its header. This panel functions as an active second display, providing dynamic visual content and strong floor presence from a distance. LED lighting is carried throughout the full exterior of the cabinet body.
42-Inch Display with Force Feedback Controls
The primary display is a 42-inch screen. Player controls include a force feedback steering wheel, gas and brake pedals, and a dedicated nitrous button for boost activation, delivering physical feedback through the wheel tied to on-track events.
5.1 Surround Sound, Seat Vibration, and Live Commentary
A 5.1 channel surround sound system provides positional audio throughout gameplay. The seat includes an interactive vibration system — referred to by the manufacturer as "rump thump" — that provides physical feedback tied to on-screen action. Live action commentary runs during each race.
Player Camera and Avatar Capture
The cabinet includes a built-in camera that captures the player's image for use as an in-game avatar. Photos are automatically deleted after each game session.
Link Up to Four Cabinets
Multiple units can be networked together, supporting up to four linked cabinets for simultaneous head-to-head multiplayer racing between players at different seats.
Coin and Card Swipe Ready
The cabinet supports both coin operation and card swipe payment, providing flexibility for venues using cashless or debit-card-based play systems alongside traditional coin operation.
How It Plays
Players begin by selecting one of five licensed supercars and a paint finish, then enter night street racing across five named courses — Ocean Drive, Cross Mountain, Winx, Axiom, and Tumbler. Gameplay involves racing against opponents while managing escalating police pursuit: each checkpoint destroyed raises the heat level, bringing more aggressive police response, and players must either stay ahead or be eliminated. The takedown mechanic runs throughout, with players able to force opponents off the road via collisions while also needing to avoid being taken out themselves. Force feedback through the wheel, seat vibration, and live commentary provide layered physical and audio feedback throughout each race. When multiple cabinets are linked, up to four players compete simultaneously against each other.
