The seat tilts and pitches on an air-ride suspension. Six racetracks. Every corner loads the frame.

Overview

The Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition is Sega's full-motion sit-down racing cabinet, built around a custom air-ride system that physically moves the seat through every turn, bump, and braking event on six racetracks. The single-player unit ships as a standalone cabinet and links with up to three additional units for four-player head-to-head competition. Force-feedback steering, a 49-inch full HD display running at 60fps, surround sound, and a live onboard camera system complete the package in a race car cabinet with chrome accents, chequered flag header, and the iconic Hornet High Class livery.

Key Features

Custom Air-Ride Motion System

The cabinet seat rides on a pneumatic air-ride platform engineered specifically for this unit. Lateral G-forces through corners, road surface feedback, and braking events all produce corresponding physical movement in the seat. A dedicated compressor (Plug 2) powers the motion system independently from the main cabinet electronics, so motion and display run on separate circuits.

Force-Feedback Steering with Classic 4-Speed Gear Shifter

The steering wheel delivers resistance and feedback tied directly to on-track conditions — understeer, oversteer, and road texture all register through the wheel. A physical 4-speed gear shifter sits alongside the wheel, giving players a tactile shift point rather than paddle controls alone.

49-Inch Full HD Display at 60fps

The cabinet runs a 49-inch full HD panel at a locked 60 frames per second. At that refresh rate and screen size, motion blur on high-speed straights is minimized and rival car positions read clearly — important for players and visible from a distance outside the cabinet.

Live Camera System

An onboard camera captures the player's face during the race and displays it on screen in real time. The live feed appears alongside the race action, so bystanders and linked competitors can see each player's reactions as the race unfolds.

Six Racetracks with Smart AI and Catch-Up Mechanic

Six racetracks are built into the game, each with distinct turn sequences and elevation changes. The AI opponents use Sega's catch-up mechanic, which keeps gap margins competitive through the final stretch rather than allowing early leaders to pull away off screen.

Three Game Modes Including Operator-Configurable Tournament Mode

Quick Race and Championship Mode are available out of the box. Operators can additionally enable a time-limited Tournament Mode with selectable parameters from the operator menu — no hardware changes required to activate it. Safety features built into the cabinet include an emergency stop button, an integrated seat belt, and on-screen motion warnings that display before and during play.

How It Plays

The player buckles into the seat, grips the force-feedback wheel, and selects Quick Race or Championship before the motion system pre-loads. From the moment the race starts, the seat tilts into corners and pitches forward under braking — the physical movement of the entire seat assembly is visible from outside the cabinet. When four units are linked, each player's live camera feed appears on their competitors' screens, and all four motion platforms operate simultaneously, producing a coordinated physical display across the full bank.

Why Operators Love It

Two-Plug Power Architecture Simplifies Install

The motion compressor and the main cabinet draw from separate circuits — Plug 1 for the game electronics (110V / 7.3A) and Plug 2 for the air-ride compressor (110V / 10A). This split means an electrical fault on one circuit does not take down the other, and each circuit's load stays within standard venue breaker ratings.

Scalable Footprint — Buy One, Link Up to Four

Each unit is a standalone single-player cabinet at 51 in W assembled. Operators can start with one unit and add up to three more as floor space and demand allow — a four-unit linked bank runs 203 in wide. No additional hardware is required to enable multi-cabinet linking.

Configurable Tournament Mode for Event Programming

The operator menu includes a time-limited Tournament Mode with selectable parameters. Operators can activate and configure it for scheduled events without hardware changes — useful for FECs and bowling centers that run recurring league or tournament nights.

Factory-Installed Safety Hardware

The cabinet ships with an emergency stop button, an integrated seat belt, and on-screen motion warnings that appear before and during play — all factory-installed. Operators do not need to source or retrofit these components independently.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the power requirements for the Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition?

Each single-player unit requires two separate 110V connections. The main cabinet draws 7.3 amps (800W) on Plug 1, and the air-ride compressor draws 10 amps (1,100W) on Plug 2. Both circuits must be available at the install location before the cabinet can operate.

How does the Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition ship?

The single unit ships in four separate assemblies: the seat assembly (59 in D x 36 in W x 62 in H, 650 lbs), monitor assembly (54 in D x 25 in W x 79 in H, 562 lbs), rear assembly (34 in D x 29 in W x 27 in H, 77 lbs), and light box (53 in D x 24 in W x 10 in H, 99 lbs). The assemblies are joined on-site during installation.

Can the Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition be expanded for multiplayer?

Yes. Up to four individual cabinets can be linked for four-player head-to-head racing. A two-unit configuration assembles to 102 in W; a four-unit bank assembles to 203 in W. Each additional unit requires its own two-circuit power supply.

What safety features are built into the Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition?

The cabinet includes an emergency stop button, an integrated seat belt, and on-screen motion warnings that display before and during play. All three are factory-installed — no operator modification is required to activate them.

Ideal Placement

The Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition fits family entertainment centers, bowling center arcades, trampoline parks, and movie theater lobbies where ceiling clearance meets the 92-inch assembled height. The 51-inch single-unit width fits standard attraction-zone floor slots, and the four-unit linked bank at 203 inches wide suits destination arcade floors with dedicated racing bays. The full-height race car profile and animated LED lighting read well in open-floor layouts where the cabinet is visible from a distance.
