Two 65-inch 4K screens mounted vertically. Mid-mission, the gun physically locks into a swivel mount.

Overview

Phantom Vanguard is a two-player on-rails arcade shooter from LAI Games, built on Unreal Engine 5 and drawn from Gameloft's Modern Combat franchise — its sixth installment and the first entry in the series in several years. The cabinet pairs dual 65-inch 4K monitors mounted vertically to approximate a 4:3 aspect ratio with a dual-mode gun system that shifts between free-aim tethered operation and a physical swivel mount during mission-specific turret sequences, a configuration unique among current arcade gun games. Two mission theaters are included at launch: one set in an Asian theater of war and one in a European theater, both running extended sessions with varied encounter types built into the arc.

Key Features

Dual 65-Inch 4K Vertically Mounted Monitors

Both 65-inch displays are oriented vertically and mounted side by side, creating a combined image area closer to a 4:3 or 5:4 aspect ratio rather than the widescreen format typical of dual-screen cabinets. At 4K resolution per panel, environmental detail and particle effects from the Unreal Engine 5 engine render at a fidelity that reads clearly from across an arcade floor.

Force-Feedback Guns with Tethered and Swivel-Mount Modes

Each player position includes a force-feedback gun controller that operates in free-aim tethered mode through standard combat sequences. During designated mission segments, the gun locks into a physical swivel mount — the weapon's range of motion narrows to simulate a fixed heavy weapon, producing a tactile state change players feel in their hands. This dual physical operating mode is not found on other current arcade gun cabinets.

Modern Combat Enemy Roster — Human, Vehicle, and Robot Targets

Phantom Vanguard fields human infantry and vehicle targets as its primary enemy types — a departure from the zombie, alien, ghost, dinosaur, and robot-fodder formats that define most current arcade gun games. Robot enemies appear in the mission arc but are secondary to the human and vehicle encounters, giving the game a military-shooter identity distinct from anything else currently on the floor.

3D Marquee with Topper and LED Lighting

The cabinet includes a three-dimensional marquee with a topper structure and bright orange LEDs along the cabinet body. The combination of vertical 4K screens, the 3D marquee topper, and the LED perimeter gives the unit a presence that reads from the far end of a large floor.

4.1 Surround Sound System

A 4.1-channel surround sound system provides dedicated channel separation for gunfire, explosions, and environmental audio. Sound projects outward from the cabinet, reinforcing the unit's floor presence during active play.

How It Plays

Players hold force-feedback tethered guns and track human infantry, vehicle, and robot targets across the twin vertically mounted 4K screens in free-aim combat — the vertical orientation creates a taller field of engagement than a standard widescreen layout. When the mission hits a turret sequence, each gun physically locks into its swivel mount: the player's movement range narrows, the posture shifts, and the on-screen perspective transitions to a fixed heavy-weapon view rendered at full Unreal Engine 5 fidelity. From across the room, the simultaneous lock-in of both guns and the resulting player posture change is visible at a distance, distinct from any standard light-gun cabinet play session.

Why Operators Love It

Three Payment Methods, One Cabinet

The cabinet ships ready for coin acceptor, bill acceptor, and card system connections, letting operators match their existing payment infrastructure without hardware modification on the unit.

Arcade-Exclusive Title on Proven IP

Phantom Vanguard is not available on home consoles or PC storefronts — the arcade cabinet is the only way to play this installment of the Modern Combat series. The franchise has a global mobile install base spanning over a decade, so players familiar with it approach the cabinet with context the attract mode doesn't have to establish from scratch.

Established Manufacturer Partnership

LAI Games previously partnered with Gameloft, IGS, and Wahlap on Asphalt Legends 9 Arcade. Phantom Vanguard is built on the same supply and support chain as that prior collaboration, giving operators a known manufacturer relationship behind the hardware.

Two Distinct Theaters Included at No Additional Unlock

Both the Asian theater and European theater missions are included in the base cabinet with no additional licensing or content unlock required. Returning players have a second full mission arc available on subsequent visits without any operator configuration.

Ideal Placement

Family entertainment centers, large-format arcades, and action or shooter zones within entertainment venues. At 79.5 inches wide and 118 inches tall, the cabinet suits anchor or end-of-aisle positions where the dual vertical 4K screens and 3D marquee topper are visible across open floor space.
